Advanced construction methods: speed and sustainability
The studio specialises in designing for advanced construction methods such as light steel frame (LSF) and modular construction, which are growing fast in Brazil.
Light steel frame uses light galvanised steel profiles for the structure and industrialised boards for internal and external walls, from cement boards and plasterboard to composite panels with special fibres.
One of the main features of light steel frame construction is how fast it is to assemble. As an industrialised model, with standardised components made under quality control, its build quality far exceeds that of traditional construction. It also stands out for its high strength. This construction method became popular in countries with advanced construction technology, such as Chile, Spain and Canada, among others, because it is environmentally sustainable.
Modular construction, in turn, is an innovative technique that stands out for its versatility and practicality. Buildings are made of fully or partly prefabricated modules, produced in a standardised way in factories and then transported to the site for assembly.
The main advantage of modular architecture is optimising construction time, reducing timelines and costs. It also allows greater flexibility and adaptability, since modules can easily be added, removed or changed as needed. The quality and strength of the materials are guaranteed by a rigorous manufacturing process. With modular architecture, it is possible to create personalised spaces with modern, functional design, meeting all kinds of needs, from homes to commercial and institutional buildings.
Gran Chalé: mountain architecture and technology
Mountain architecture is a building style that originated in the mountainous regions of Europe and stands out for its pitched roofs and materials in harmony with the natural surroundings. In Brazil, it is common in the Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina highlands, where the colder climate calls for specific building features. Mountain-style homes tend to be rustic, with exposed stone walls, reclaimed timber and many natural elements. Pitched roofs blend with the landscape and are ideal for the rain and cold of the region.
Here the studio presents the Gran Chalé Serrano, inspired by Alpine A-frame chalets but with advanced construction technology and comfort features in every detail.
The chalet uses materials that warm up the look, such as wood and rustic stone, combined with plenty of comfort and interior space and large openings that connect inside and outside, ensuring views of nature and plenty of natural light in every room. All of this, of course, with good thermal insulation and indoor heating, for maximum comfort even on days close to or below 0 °C, which are common in highland winters.
Gran Chalé stands out for combining mountain architecture with advanced construction, with a light steel frame structure, bringing together sustainability, comfort and beauty in one project and valuing the authenticity and quality of the materials. Its rustic style feels cosy and welcoming, and its advanced structure provides structural safety, fast construction, budget predictability and high build quality, with excellent thermal and acoustic insulation.
